The Schonbrunn palace’s story goes back in time to when Austria was ruled from the Habsburgs after which later taken over by the Emperor Franz Joseph. The Emperor lived there his final days and when he died it absolutely was delivered to the new republic. A must see space inside is that the one where Mozart himself played piano for the Empress. It’s crammed with lovely fresco ceilings and grand chandeliers.
